An Interview with Juan Daza
Meet the Nordecke's narrative voice this season
Juan Daza, a sharp-witted artist and editorial cartoonist from Colombia, has found a new canvas in the stands of Lower Dot Com Field. His transition from traditional media to the grand scale of tifos has added a wonderful Latin flavor to the Nordecke, while also bringing a fresh, artistic narrative to the season. And you know how we love 1:1, custom Crew art.
These days, no one’s doing it like Juan.
When we met at Stauf’s in Grandview in early September, Juan was caught in a liminal moment. Juan’s winning design for the Nordecke’s HiR t-shirt contest was finally being worn by fans and his largest-scale production yet was just around the corner. His boundless energy was still palpable across the table as we talked about his start with editorial cartooning, falling in love with the Crew and how he’s finally married the two passions.
“Creating tifos is like telling a story that’s big enough for everyone in the stands to read and feel,” Juan said, reflecting on his craft.
